During his lifetime, General Vo Nguyen Giap devoted his entire life to the revolutionary cause of the Vietnamese people under the leadership of the Party and President Ho Chi Minh. During more than 80 years of revolutionary activities, General Vo Nguyen Giap made enormous contributions and contributions. Among them, it is impossible not to mention the General's contributions to the August Revolution of 1945, establishing the Democratic Republic of Vietnam - the first people's democratic state in Southeast Asia.
Comrade Vo Nguyen Giap and the establishment of the Vietnam Liberation Army Propaganda Team
In mid-1944, the world situation changed rapidly, the revolutionary movement increasingly spread, and Viet Minh organizations developed strongly. In October 1944, after listening to a report on the revolutionary situation in the country, especially about the decision to armed uprising of the Cao - Bac - Lang Joint Provincial Party Committee, Uncle Ho commented: "Now the period of peaceful revolutionary development has passed, but the period of all-people uprising has not yet come... The struggle now must move from a political form to a military form. But now politics is more important.military. We must find a suitable form of struggle to be able to push the movement forward"....
To implement the new operating motto, Uncle Ho assigned comrade Vo Nguyen Giap to directly take care of organizing the "Liberation Army" - the first main army of the Vietnamese revolution. Implementing Uncle Ho's Directive, with the urgent, strict and thoughtful preparation in all aspects of comrade Vo Nguyen Giap and the Party Committee and people of all ethnic groups in Cao Bang, at 5:00 pm on December 22, 1944, the Vietnam Liberation Army Propaganda Team was established in the forest of Tran Hung Dao (Nguyen Binh). The team consists of 34 officers and soldiers, led by comrade Vo Nguyen Giap.

Only two days after its establishment, under the command of comrade Vo Nguyen Giap, the Vietnam Liberation Army Propaganda Team (predecessor of the Vietnam People's Army) achieved two consecutive glorious victories: Taking down Phai Khat station (December 25) and Na Ngan station (December 26), starting the Army's tradition of "winning the first battle".ta.
Comrade Vo Nguyen Giap and the establishment of the Liberation Zone
In the process of preparing for an uprising to seize power, comrade Vo Nguyen Giap drafted the Resolution "On the establishment of the Liberation Zone". To complete the draft, comrade Vo Nguyen Giap regularly asked for guidance from Uncle Ho and comrades in the Nguyen Hue Party Committee sub-division, as well as comrades with revolutionary activities in Tan Trao. Thanks to that, the draft Resolution was soon completed, which is an important basis for the establishment of the Liberation Zone.
On June 4, 1945, the Viet Minh General Headquarters convened a conference and announced the establishment of the Liberation Zone. Tan Trao was chosen as the "Capital of the Liberation Zone". Under the direct direction of comrade Vo Nguyen Giap, "The Liberation Zone is increasingly consolidated and developed. The Liberation Army is constantly winning, causing the Japanese to begin to fear. The prestige of the Viet Minh and the Liberation Army is getting bigger and bigger."

The development in all aspects of the Liberation Zone bears the bold imprint of comrade Vo Nguyen Giap, and is an outstanding contribution of comrade Vo Nguyen Giap to the process of preparing for an uprising to seize power.

On the evening of August 12, 1945, after hearing that Japan had sent a note to its allies accepting the declaration of the Potsdam Conference, the Standing Committee of the Party Central Committee met and decided to immediately open a national conference of the Party to discuss a specific plan to lead a general uprising. Also on the night of August 12, 1945, the Provisional Command Committee of the Liberation Zone ordered all armed forces and people in the area to stand up in rebellion.
In that urgent atmosphere, on the night of August 13, 1945, comrade Vo Nguyen Giap authorized comrade Tran Huy Lieu to draft Military Order No. 1. At 11 p.m. the same day, comrade Vo Nguyen Giap, on behalf of the National Uprising Committee, signed Military Order No. 1, ordering a general uprising.

In the context at that time, the Viet Minh General Headquarters issued Military Order No. 1 which was not only a wise decision, but also a symbol of seizing opportunities quickly and at the right time.

On August 16, 1945, the National Congress was held in Tan Trao. The Congress advocated leading the masses to rebel and seize power from the Japanese fascists and their henchmen, before the Allied troops entered Indochina. At the same time, it was decided to establish the "Vietnam National Liberation Committee" consisting of 15 people, with Ho Chi Minh as Chairman and comrade Vo Nguyen Giap as a member.
On the afternoon of August 16, 1945, at Tan Trao banyan tree, a Liberation Army unit under the command of comrade Vo Nguyen Giap headed to liberate the provincial capital of Thai Nguyen, opening the general uprising throughout the country. On August 22, 1945, comrade Vo Nguyen Giap returned to Hanoi, preparing with the Party Central Committee and the Government to organize the Independence Declaration Ceremony.set up.
